She consistently builds strong, trusting, and effective working relationships with statutory and non-statutory services, commissioners, legal professionals, and key decision-makers. Emma’s ability to communicate clearly, credibly, and compassionately allows her to bring people together around complex cases, reduce conflict and achieve shared outcomes, even in high-pressure or adversarial situations. Her approach ensures that professionals feel confident working collaboratively, while families and individuals feel respected, heard and supported.
Notably, Emma was the first transitions worker in the UK to secure successful judicial, DoLS applications enabling young people to move into Independent Supported Living (including via managed direct payments). Emma also designed and developed The Vault, the UK's first hotel and traineeship for autistic people, featured on Made in Tyne & Wear TV. This was funded by Access To Work and supported the initial cohort of fourteen students. This programme has been running successfully through St Camilla's Care Group since 2014.
Emma has been the driving force behind a new social enterprise called "The Vault Unlocking Potential CIC" which has been established to support and advocate for parents and carers navigating local authority services and systems with particular emphasis on child protection, safeguarding, housing, employment advocacy, mental health and welfare rights.
